Visit to the world’s fair – London 2064
Visit to the world’s fair – London 2064 is a composited greenscreen shot created by Lola. The shot depicted her interpretation of what the future may look like in 2064.
The narrative behind this shot was that in 2064, London becomes the best eco-friendly city in the world. It was reconstructed under a dome, which protected citizens from the badly polluted air that contained harmful pollutants. Living space under the dome was very limited, therefore payment was required to get in. The majority of people who could pay were from the upper class.
The government turned their attention to the dome and abandoned the citizens outside. The environment outside the dome was not healthy or safe. The citizens living outside the dome were from the middle to lower class.
During this project, Lola took inspiration from various sources regarding colour grading, perspective and lighting. In Photoshop, these techniques were used to make the matte painting more authentic. Nuke was used to composite the final shot, ensuring that the greenscreen was keyed out correctly. With colour correction and focal blur to make the final shot more believable. Sound effects were added in Premiere.
Visit to the world’s fair – London 2064 achieved the requirement of the project brief. My project explored social issues such as air pollution and social class with the main focus being whether or not all social classes would benefit from sustainable clean air in 2064. Lola composited a greenscreen shot that depicted her prediction of the future and what she believed would leave a lasting message with the audience.
