Most of us keep our photos in a digital format on our phones or computers, although it is still very good to have a hard copy. Digital copies can sometimes be lost. Making a photobook of your much-loved images will keep them in pristine conditions. A perfect way to prevent discolouration or damage.

I created a Photobook using Blurb to keep copies of my favourite photographs. This way, I could display my work and the type of Photography I specialised in. I could also look back on the past work I was proud of.

Have a look at the image slider below to see the images in the photobook created using Blurb.

Pre-made templates from Blurb made it easy to create. Blurb’s templates vary from a standard portrait (20cm x 50cm) to a large landscape (33cm x 28cm).

Another option was to use one of their layout tools such as Adobe InDesign or Adobe Lightroom, to make the book. By simply downloading the plug-in from Blurb, one can customise one’s chosen template by adjusting the book size and the page count.

Different paper types are available, such as, Standard (a semi-matte paper), Premium Matte (100% matte paper), Premium Lustre (a hint of gloss) and many more.

Aside from the paper types, Blurb offered a Trade-Book printing option which was a cheaper alternative. Although this method used less ink, the quality of the printing gave my book a lovely matte finish.

For my book, I used the Adobe InDesign plug-in to make a 21cm x 26cm hardcover portrait book, with economy trade paper. Overall, my experience with Blurb was certainly pleasant.

The pricing was appropriate and the quality of my book was more than what I paid for. I most definitely will be ordering my next photo book from them!

Photobooks are great ideas for birthday gifts, anniversaries or any other special occasions.

What do you think about creating a photobook using Blurb? If you have created one before, how did you find the experience?
