Product reveals are one of the most effective creative formats in social media content right now. The moment of reveal, something opening, breaking, or transforming to expose the product inside, creates anticipation and stops the scroll in a way that a static render simply cannot. The slow motion shatter is one of the most visually striking versions of that format, and it lives entirely inside Blender.

I used this technique in my animation of Milk Makeup’s Jelly Stick, where the product sits frozen inside an ice cube and the cube shatters in slow motion to reveal it. I wanted to create  something dramatic and unexpected, and the shatter delivered exactly that.

Physics does the hard work

One of the most important things to understand about this technique is that you are not animating the shatter manually. Blender’s rigid body physics system handles all of that for you. Your job is to set the scene up correctly, fracture the geometry, apply the physics, and let Blender simulate the result. The creative control comes after the simulation, when you convert that physics into keyframes and start adjusting the timing.

That separation between simulation and timing is what makes the slow motion effect possible. You are not slowing down a video. You are spreading keyframes further apart on the timeline, which means the movement itself becomes slower while the quality stays completely intact. It is a clean, non-destructive way to work and it gives you frame level control over exactly how the shatter plays out.
